Information for 6th Grade at EMS/ELA
Currently, Englewood Leadership Academy offers 6th grade at the middle school for families interested in this option. In Englewood Schools, families can choose to enroll their 6th grader at one of the four elementary schools (Bishop, Charles Hay, Cherrelyn, Clayton) or at Englewood Leadership Academy/Englewood Middle School (grades 6,7,8).
Students are enrolled for 6th grade at the middle school on first come, first serve based on THIS request form. The enrollment cap for 6th grade is based on staffing availability. A waitlist will be created if needed. This link to the Google Form will open on Friday, January 24th at 9:00 am.
EMS/ELA currently offers blended classes across both schools in order to provide opportunity for all students, including access to honors/advanced classes, a variety of electives, special education services, intervention classes, EL courses, Gifted-Talented and 504 support, and social-emotional learning. Students enrolling at ELA are also simultaneously enrolled at EMS (blended programming between both schools across all classrooms).
Some of the benefit of attending 6th grade at middle school includes:
- Students attend 4 core classes every day aligned to state and national grade level standards (science, math, social studies, language arts)
- Students have the opportunity to accelerate in core instruction (such as, pre-algebra, honors language arts, high school level sciences,
- Students have access to a variety of electives with advancement opportunity (we currently offer STEAM, Choir, Band, EHS Marching Band, Art, PE, Spanish, Health Ed, Yearbook, Creative Writing)
- 6th Graders at ELA/EMS participate in an Enrichment class that focuses on personal goals, study skills and professional skill building, executive functioning, team building, and many other enrichment focuses.
- Students attending 3 years of middle school increases opportunity for adjustment and preparation for high school and beyond
- Access to two school counselors, Social-Emotional Coursework (Character Strong), and College-Career Planning Coursework including an academic portfolio for 6-12 grade development.
Once the form opens on January 24th, please add your information to the Google Form if your student is interested in attending ELA/EMS for 6th grade for the 2025-2026 school year.
Once you complete this form, you will receive follow up information within one week to finalize your request. Once you receive this email, you will have one week to respond and accept your spot at the middle school for 6th grade.
If you do not respond within the timeframe, your name will be added to the waitlist and your spot will be given to the next family on the list.
Additionally, if you live outside the Englewood Schools Catchment area, you MUST complete the choice enrollment form as well. (Linked here) This form should be completed at the same time as your Enrollment Request for 6th grade at ELA/EMS.
